Elliott acknowledges that not only our organisation but our nation faces a pandemic regarding HIV/AIDS.
The effects of HIV/AIDS in the workplace and the impact it has on our business can become quite catastrophic, not only does it threaten productivity and profitability, but the welfare of our employees and their families are also affected.
Elliott sees itself as an integral part of the community, and as such, has a vital role to play in terms of prevention. Part of that social responsibility is the annual participation in the AIDS week Business Banner-thon.
Elliott is committed to the development and implementation of an action-orientated plan in order to try and prevent new HIV infection and in providing care and support for employees who are infected, or affected by HIV/AIDS.
Key elements of our HIV/AIDS Workplace Programme will include:
- HIV/AIDS awareness programmes;
- HIV/AIDS education and training;
- Wellness programmes for employees affected by HIV/AIDS;
- Reasonable accommodation for infected employees;
- Strategies to address direct and indirect costs of HIV and AIDS;
- Recognition of consultation, inclusivity and the encouragement of full participation by all stakeholders as key principles which should underpin every HIV/AIDS policy and programme;
