Our People

Charles Luyckx:  Joint Chief Executive Officer
Son of Leon Luyckx (a prominent South African businessman), Charles was educated at Marist Brothers College, Wits University and Rhodes University.

As a member of the South African Defence Force, Charles displayed his leadership qualities by achieving the rank of Lieutenant and, during his military training, he was the Personnel Officer responsible for the Far Northern Transvaal Region.

In 1987 Charles was offered a position with Elliott International as a trainee and was put on an extensive training programme over a period of two years.

As a result of his training in every department of the organisation, he has developed into one of the best and most knowledgeable executives in the moving industry.

In 1990, Charles became the Operations Manager for the Transvaal Region of Elliott and, subsequently, in 1992 he was invited to become a member of our Board of Directors.

Charles travels extensively worldwide representing Elliott International at international moving conferences and visiting our worldwide agency network.

In 2003, Charles was appointed Joint Chief Executive Officer of Elliott International.

In January 2007, Charles Luyckx and Brad Barker successfully concluded an MBO, purchasing the share capital from the Ansley Trust.

Some of the achievements and positions served by Charles Luyckx are:

  • Attended the FIDI (International Federation of Furniture Removers) Institute School in Brussels (Belgium) where he achieved top results in the FIDI School and received an award for being one of the three top students in the world;
  • Post Graduate of the Wits Business School in Business Finance;
  • Diploma in Transport Economics at Rand Afrikaans University;
  • Served as the Chairman for the African and Middle East Region of the FIDI 35 Club;
  • Ex-President of SAIMA (South African International Movers Association);
  • Tutor: FIDI Training Academy, Brussels, Belgium;
  • Board member of OMNI (Overseas Moving Network International) based in London, United Kingdom.

There is no one in the world of international moving who is more dedicated to service excellence than Charles Luyckx.


Brad Barker: Joint Chief Executive Officer
Brad was educated at King Edward School (Johannesburg), Kingswood College (Grahamstown) and Rhodes University (Grahamstown).

Brad’s first job was at Elliott International when he joined in 1991 as a trainee and was put through an extensive training programme for two years.

As a result of his training, spending time in every division of the organisation, his knowledge of the industry has enabled him to become one of the industry’s leading executives.

Brad travels extensively worldwide representing Elliott at international moving conferences and visiting our worldwide agency network.

In 1995, Brad was responsible for developing our Special Projects Division, which handles the moving of fine art, trade shows and exhibitions.

This division requires specialised skills and Elliott is considered by this industry worldwide to be the only organisation in South Africa capable of handling specialised projects.  Some of the exhibitions recently handled by us are:

  • Leonardo da Vinci
  • Art in Embassies programme
  • Hanover Expo Germany
  • Africa Meets Africa
  • Picasso

In 1995, Brad attended the FIDI (International Federation of Furniture Removers) Institute in Brussels (Belgium), where he achieved top results and obtained his Diploma in International Moving.

In 1998, Brad was invited to become a member of the Elliott Board of Directors.  As the Sales Director of Elliott International, Brad was tasked with heading up the Sales Division of the organisation.

In 2003, Brad was appointed Joint Chief Executive Officer of Elliott International.


David Hibbert: Financial Director
Dave has been in a number of management positions throughout his career, ranging from Senior Internal Auditor to General Manager of a nationwide logistics company.

Dave joined Elliott International in 1995 and was instrumental in decentralising the accounting function of the company to achieve accountability at branch level for all aspects of the systems over the last 2 years.

In addition, Dave is responsible for the management of the overall strategic direction of the finance division for the Elliott Group. He is accountable for the formulation of financial policy and procedure for the group and arranges and oversees annual audit processes, treasury management, compilation of the annual budget and 5-year forecasting.

The diverse nature of Elliott means that Dave has been fortunate enough to have been exposed to almost every aspect of financial management from foreign exchange to group consolidations and job costing.


Kimber John Becker: Managing Director
With an extensive background of qualifications in Marketing and Management, including an Institute of Marketing Manager Diploma and Wits’ Business School’s Advanced Management Programme, Kimber has already managed to make a significant positive impact on Elliott International during his short time with the company.

Kimber joined Elliott International in 2006 as Chief Operating Officer, having had experience as an FMCG Product Manager and National Accounts Manager, National Sales Manager and Divisional Director.

Kimber’s experience also involved turning another International Removal Company from a loss situation to one of profitability through the structuring and implementation of Financial Controls, as well as Increasing Corporate Market base and import market share, thereby increasing market share.

A military officer by training, Kimber also holds the rank of Major and Chief Logistics Co-ordinator for the 92nd Tactical Airfield Unit of the South African Airforce.
