South Africa is scenically beautiful, with a sunny climate, and more kinds of wildlife than North and South America, or Europe and Asia combined. The country is the world’s leading producer of platinum, chromium and other minerals. A nation of rich diversity, with nearly 52 million people and a wide variety of cultures, languages, beliefs and backgrounds. Located at the southern tip of Africa, boasting the most distinct landscapes. From Highveld grasslands, semi-desert scrubland, sub-tropical wetlands, South Africa is home to some of the world’s widest variety of animal and plant kingdoms. The weather ranges from Mediterranean to temperate. Most parts of the country have warm, sunny days and cool evenings. Rainfall generally occurs during summer (November to March), although in the southwest, around Cape Town, rainfall occurs in winter (June to August).
There are 11 official languages in South Africa. English is the most commonly used and understood language in the cities, especially for business. Other languages include Afrikaans, isiXhosa, isiZulu, Northern Sotho, Southern Sotho, Swati, Tsonga, Tswana, Venda, and Ndebele.
